The leading role of France and Germany in the post-war unification of Europe based on Christian values is shown. Important position of French politicians and special role of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France of post-war Europe Robert Schuman were noted. It has been found that over the last decade Europe has moved away from the value system of initiators of unification processes, which has largely caused the current acute crisis in the European Union. EU absorption potential that do not meet challenges of the modern world is analyzed. Scenarios for further development of the EU are justified, given the possibility of varying degrees of integration, especially of potential new members. Keywords:European Union; Christian values; integration; disintegration; value system; EU crisis; absorption capacity; degree of integration Бібл. 14
